| Legal Papers for Canadian citizens to be married in Greece
1. PASSPORT COPY OF BRIDE AND GROOM.2. FULL BIRTH CERTIFICATES OF BRIDE AND GROOM.Both parties are obliged to provide full Birth Certificate. No shorter versions will be accepted.3. CERTIFICATE OF NO IMPEDIMENT TO MARRIAGE OF BOTH THE BRIDE AND GROOM.This document confirms that you have not been married and that you are free to be married. This document can be issued at your local Registrar's office and it must not be issued more than three months prior your wedding.4. AFFIDAVITS - FREE TO MARRY FOR BRIDE AND GROOM.This a sworn declaration that you are free to marry and that there is no impediment preventing you to enter into a valid marriage contract, in Greece. Your names and dates respectively should appear, after you obtain such a declaration (from where they are obtainable in your country )and thereafter have the said document stamped by a Notary Public Office and obtain the official Apostille stamp for it. (click HERE to see an example of the required document).5. DIVORCE CERTIFICATE IF ANY.In the case that one or both parties have been divorced, you are obligated to obtain this Certificate.6. OFFICIAL DOCUMENT ABOUT CHANGING THE NAME, IF ANY.7. ADOPTION CERTIFICTES, IF ANY.All documents must be translated and certified at the Greek Embassy/ Consulate in your country.At least four weeks before your departure for Greece, please confirm that your paperwork is in order. Thereafter please ensure that you bring all the originals with you. You will be required to stay in Greece for at least (1) one working day after your wedding, in order to go to the Town Hall to sign your Marriage Certificate.
